mise en scene is important in films as it helps to create and add the the genre of the film. in the films the decent and across the hall the mise en scene is used to help create the intensity of the scenes which help to add the horror genres of the films. conventions used to create this include low key lighting, lighting filters, dramatic sounds effects stereotypical characters heroines, heroes and bad guys. also props to connote danger. also gestures and emotions from the characters are scared and intense. all of these help to tell the audience which genre the film comes from.
