Research and planning - NARRATIVE IDEAS

the shark model is a contemporary narrative theory unlike todorov's traditional approach. the theory has 3 parts the bite, the body and the tail. the bite is the beginning where something dramatic happens creating an impact. it begins with an eventful scene to grabs the audiences attention. the middle part of the film is the body this is where the story unfolds creating twists. the story has then developed with characters causes and effects. the ending of the film is then the tail where the plot ends and the story is resolved.

films that use shark bite openings include;

creep

the decent

the hangover.
